2020 Hyundai i20 N Line Officially Unveiled, Gets Sporty Visual Upgrades

Earlier this year, the new-generation i20 was unveiled to the world, and now, Hyundai had decided to expand the range with the ‘N Line’ variants. These new models feature plenty of styling elements (exterior and interior) inspired by the company’s high-performance ‘N’ range. On the exterior, the i20 N Line gets an aggressive-looking body kit, with beefy yet chiselled bumpers. The car gets a side skirt and dual exhaust pipes, adding to the sporty look. It also gets larger 17-inch machine-cut alloy wheels and a four paint options – Phantom Black, Aurora Grey, Brass, and Polar White. The upholstery gets red stitching, and there are a few red inserts on the AC vents, gear lever, handbrake, and the steering wheel. The car also has metal pedals, for added sportiness, and ambient cabin lighting for a premium feel. The equipment and features available are the same as the “normal” i20.........Read more

IPL 2020: Fantasy Sports League Platform Dream11 Bags Title Sponsorship Rights For Rs 222 Crore

Fantasy gaming platform Dream11 has bagged the sponsorship title rights for the upcoming season of the IPL2020 set to be played in the UAE from September 19. According to IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel, Dream11 will pay Rs 222 crore for the rights and a formal announcement in this regard will be made by the later in the day. The other bidders for the rights were Unacademy (Rs 210 crore), Tata Sons (Rs 180 crore) and Byju’s (Rs 125 crore). The BCCI was in hunt for a new title sponsor after mutually ending its deal with Chinese mobile phone maker earlier this month for the 13th season. However, VIVO is expected to make its return for the next season. The reason behind VIVO’s exit is the heightened diplomatic tension between India and China following a deadly clash between their armies in Ladakh earlier this year. A wave of boycotting Chinese products swept through the country following the death of Indian soldiers with BCCI coming under fire for having onboard VIVO as a sponsor.........Read more

ExplainSpeaking on economy | Atmanirbhar Bharat: A brief and not-so-affectionate history

A key component of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech on August 15 was devoted to the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. However, several bits of what he said on achieving “Atmanirbharta” were eerily similar to the language of the now-defunct Planning Commission. Are you confused about what “ ” actually means? Frankly, if you are not confused then perhaps you should be. That’s because “Atmanirbhar” could be interpreted either as “self-reliance” or as “self-sufficiency”. The two sounds similar but there are crucial differences when one refers to them in the context of policymaking. The confusion started from the very day this mission, as it were, was announced. On May 12, the PM had said, and I am quoting from the Press Information Bureau’s official release, “The state of the world today teaches us that (AtmaNirbhar Bharat) “Self-reliant India” is the only path. It is said in our scriptures — EshahPanthah. That is — self-sufficient India”. As you notice, the PM used both the phrases to refer to “Atmanirbhar”. So, let me quickly attempt to answer some key questions that you might have. What is the difference between self-reliance and self-sufficiency when it comes to policymaking? When a country wants to be self-sufficient, it essentially wants to produce all the goods and services it needs by itself and does not want to depend on the rest of the world. In other words, it wants to cut down on all its imports and isolate itself.........Read more

Inaugural season of The Hundred postponed till 2021

The inaugural season of The Hundred, the ECB's new eight-team men's and women's tournaments which were set to begin this summer, has been postponed until 2021 in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, the ECB confirmed on Thursday (April 30). The decision is not unexpected. The ECB, who announced last week that there will be no professional cricket in England and Wales until at least July 1, have previously stated that their priorities for when cricket resumes are international cricket and the Vitality T20 Blast. Given the narrowing window available, The Hundred was always going to be tough to squeeze in. ........Read more

Kids get mild COVID-19 symptoms, but chance of transmission high: study

That's because the study, published March 13 in Nature Medicine, found that even though children typically only exhibit mild symptoms if infected, they can shed the coronavirus long after symptoms disappear. Is it possible to build wildlife-friendly windfarms?

In fact, one study led by Maria Thaker, a professor of ecology at the Indian Institute of Science’s Center for Ecological Sciences, found that the ecological impact of wind farms ripples out into the surrounding ecosystem. Conducted in the mountain plateaus of India’s Western Ghats, Thaker and her colleagues discovered almost four times more predatory birds in areas without wind turbines, while observing more lizards around wind farms. “We found that density and activity of birds were much lower in areas with wind turbines and that meant that lizards were experiencing less predation risk,” says Thaker. “And so, lizards were increasing in number without the typical check of population growth by predation.”........Read more
