Coronavirus: China trial found no benefit in HIV drugs, says study

The results of a 199-subject trial in China on the efficacy of HIV drugs Lopinavir and Ritonavir that India was looking at eagerly, has come out negative. At 22.1 per cent, the mortality reported in the trial was substantially higher than the 11 per cent to 14.5 per cent mortality reported in initial studies of patients hospitalised with novel coronavirus (COVID-19), according to a study. One modus operandi related to income tax frauds got highlighted through a statement issued by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) that comes under the ministry of electronics and information technology on 19 September 2019. “A phishing and malware campaign is active since at least September 12, and is targeting individuals as well as financial organizations. The campaign involves fake emails purporting to be sent by the Indian Income Tax Department. Two variants of the email have been observed. The first variant includes an attachment with extension ‘.img’ which contains a malicious ‘.pif’ file. The second variant lures the users to download a malicious ‘.pif’ file hosted on a Sharepoint page via a link of fraudulent domain incometaxindia[.]info. This domain has now been disabled," it stated. Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Clears Bill Proposing Death Penalty For Rapists

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Wednesday cleared a Bill that seeks the death penalty in cases of sexual abuses against women — learning a ‘bitter’ lesson from the recent case of gangrape and murder of a veterinary doctor in neighbouring state Telangana. The Bill also mandates that from the day of an FIR being filed, the entire trial should not take more than 21 days. Once the Bill is passed by the state Assembly, Andhra Pradesh will be the first state in India to have capital punishment for rape cases.
