ICICI-Videocon Case: Chanda Kochhar’s Husband Deepak Kochhar Arrested by ED Over Money Laundering Allegations

In a major development to the money laundering allegations in ICICI-Videocon case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday arrested Deepak Kochhar, husband of former ICICI Bank MD & CEO Chanda Kochhar. As per latest updates, Deepak was being questioned by the ED whole day before he was arrested in the night.He has been arrested under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials The ICICI-Videocon case pertains to an alleged misappropriation cited in loans given by the ICICI Bank to Videocon. The move from the ED comes almost a year after the agency filed a money laundering case on the basis of a complaint registered by the CBI against Videocon Director Venugopal Dhoot, his companies (Videocon International Electronics Ltd and Videocon Industries Ltd), as well as former ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar. Coronavirus outbreak: 842 Indians evacuated from China, Japan so far, says MEA

An Indian Air Force special aircraft yesterday took 15 tonnes of medical supplies from India to the coronavirus-hit Chinese city of Wuhan and later left with 112 Indians and foreign nationals stranded in the city who are expected to arrive in Delhi today. They will undergo 14-day quarantine in India like their previous batches to ensure that they are cleared of the COVID-19 virus. Meanwhile, Mainland China reported 433 new coronavirus cases yesterday, up from 406 the day before. The total number of confirmed cases on mainland China has now reached 78,497. South Korea reported 334 more cases, bringing its total to 1,595. Global worries of coronavirus are multiplying with the sudden increase of cases in Italy, Iran and other countries, with many announcing travel curbs. Indian Government Increases Speed Limit On Expressways Up To 120 kmph

In a recent notification, the ministry of road transport and highways headed by Nitin Gadkari announced that the speed limit for vehicles on expressways has been increased to 120 kmph. The new limits are for M1 category of vehicles that include vehicles with not more than eight seats. The speed restrictions for taxis have also been increased from 80 kmph to 100 kmph on the expressways, while it is limited to 90 kmph on the highways.
